Shortly about characters!
Keep in mind, when i say shortly - i mean shortly. They have much more lore and canon that just won't be mentioned here (yet).
Dr. Carl (not real medical professional) is first character ever created for MindTV universe. It started from joke "You know there's always character in show who needs to see psychologist asap." Carl had become that psychologist. One of his most popular programs is showing her visiting different media characters and forcing them to face their fears and traumas. This character is also quite obviously satire, because, no - you can't fix your mental issues under eyes of cameras. "Medical shows" of such kind is never helping patients, it's just giving them more stress for pleasure of audience and i hope it's something we all know.
No matter that Carl often makes people scared and discomforted, he aren't exactly evil. She has very little understanding where "fuck around" ends and "find out" starts. It is struggling with understanding human emotions and reactions, so she does not fully know when his behavior starts to hurt others. Not playing on his hand, the fact that if he starts with not best introduction, people may perceive her as an evil psycho who enjoys violence, which will affect their future behavior and make it sort of an avalanche that will get worse and worse more time he spends with audience. Carl, however, in his canonical form, is very life-loving person. She finds life fascinating and beautiful. Sadly, this character of hers is not often seen by audience. He isn't too sad about it tho.
Carl is married to Tommy. They are in very happy, healthy relationship. Carl has little flying camera named Chuck as pet/assistant. It has intelligence between v smart dog and average politician. It can turn into other gadgets depending on situation.
Carl, like most showpeople, is okay with any pronouns and gender. That is canon i go with right now. They are all genderfluid and pansexual, gender is just part of performance.
Tommy Rain
Showperson of meteorology
Tommy is second character added to this world. Polite, calm, caring, in many ways he *mistakenly* perceived as opposite of Carl. She is big fan of stars, space and everything to know about it. They technically suppose to be called cosmologist, not meteorologist... Its program usually talks about changes in space, why and how they happen. But he often covers bigger topics and makes science documentaries.
He is a big yapper and can talk nonstop for a long time. She is deeply interested in being accurate in her words and does a lot of fact checks. Canon Tommy is more than capable of protecting herself, no matter his politeness and kindness. Unfortunately, often when it is being perceived, people make false assumptions of him being harmless and infantilize him, which affects hers ability to talk back.
Tommy's chest covering clothes, no matter what she wears, will change its color on picture of sky/space. It changes depending on Tommy's current mood. It is based on weather reporters often wearing green-screen shirts to let people see image behind them. If Tommy experiences deep emotional disturbance, it may change to its original bright green color.
No matter that showpeople are non-biological creatures and unable to have biological family, they are able to have an "emotional family". Tommy is considered to be younger sibling of Life-Kaif and Sam Zore. No matter that she started to exist earlier than them...
Hiking, camping, tourism, anything related to adventures outside your boring home is Life-Kife show. She is relaxed party person who loves the world and everything in it. She is kind of person who will sit with you on fallen tree, smoking weed and explaining why sun shines very pretty on that specific rock. Understanding and chill, but more than capable for fights and danger. She is most shining person in a room,,, literally too.
She, surprisingly, around other showpeople rarely experiences big discomfort because of the way other people perceive her. Not only because he is showing himself EXACTLY in a way he is, "wearing it heart on its sleeve" in a way, but also because they see idea of few hours being not "real itself" as not a bad thing. They go with a flow and know that if suit they wear doesn't fit - soon they will change.
She enjoys "art of noticing" and can turn any boring walk into museum excursion. It is visiting not only nature, but cities of different universes too and, unlike other showpeople, he always prefers to be in life instead of props-universe.
Very open-minded, they enjoy trying new things. One of mini rubrics in her show is trying popular food from other worlds: stardrops, THE sandwich, temmie flakes. Some tastes better, some worse, but she never says no to trying.
IS THAT HATSUNE MIKU??? Ahem- No, well yes, but not really. May_Day is in it's very base vocaloid program with creative AI and robot body. Their work is anything related to music, no matter creating their own, talking to other creators, analyzing music related news, whatever. She also performs live concerts in universes that have high enough amount of audience to show up.
This showperson is one of most struggling with viewers opinions. You see all other Showpeople have maybe occasionally changing, but always existing canon of who they are. Vocaloids don't have canon, their character can be any age, gender, word view, etc. depending on what user needs for specific song, and that means May_Day doesn't have this canon of his either. Sam (canon keeper) has basic information about how May_Day usually looks, it's physical abilities, but even this info is more recommendation than rules. Who May_Day is inside is blank except for fact of being musician. She has no stable form that he can hold onto in moments when audience perceive him not how she should be, because May_Day herself has no idea how she should be. They have a lot of self-image issues that they try to ignore by hiding in alcohol, drugs and sex. They are often acting careless towards other people's opinions, but reality is - without anyone looking at them, they feel like they may not exist at all.
May_Day body usually stay mechanical, made of plastic and metal. They can transform their body like robot would, but if you try to slowly analyze how their hand changed into a gun, you'll realize it makes no sense from physical view. Parts can just clip through each other and create components that haven't been there before. That's magic, we don't need to be engineers to make robot go pew-pew.
Jack is news reporter. His program can be very bipolar depending on which part you stumble. Sometimes he is talking about big "world scale" events like wars between some fricking alien. But this is comically less paying segment than his "personal news". Thing is, since showpeople exist beyond the concept of time itself, Jack is more than capable of creating program individually for each viewer. Aren't you just dreaming of steering into screen like an insane freak, listening to your all knowing news reporter talking about your best friend's relationship issues as if it's something for your greedy eyes and ears? I thought so.
Jack finds his job extremely stressful and morally questionable. So she is metaphorically AND literally burning out from it. Jack has tendency for spontaneous combustion in moments of severe stress/discomfort. Their body and clothes are fire resistant and, unless viewers are uninformed about this ability, she is also not experiencing physical pain. It doesn't mean that feeling is pleasant tho.
In non-work setting, they may be perceived as nervous, shy, quiet individual. People pleaser in a way and generally anxious person. And all of it would be true, but canon persona of Jack is also suffering with light anger issues, that audience opinion often pushes down into well behaved gentleman form. She has very low opinion about humans and generally all sentient beings (himself included). Their work has shown them how much greed, hypocrisy, irresponsibility and unreasonable need to hate people hide inside. He's not often able to trust people outside his tight friend circle.
She finds joy in video games and wishes he could lead gaming focused program instead of all this nonsense.
So BASICALLY, he is a cult leader. She is brainwashing people to believe she's chosen by God themselves to talk what's right or wrong. All his programs are based on direct dialogue with viewer, Norman answers their questions, prays and gives them direction in life. "Healing" people from diseases and helps to cope with the death of loved ones. All of this is, of course, LIE.
Not only all of bullshit Norman says is just straight improvisation and not dialogue with higher powers, she doesn't believe in God. An atheistic preacher with lose moral compass and lack of any shame - that is canon persona of Norman. They are capable of talking sweetly and be not worst psychologist (better than Carl for sure), but he isn't connected to gods WiFi. And in moments of being away from audience, she is fully aware of it.
But issue with lying when you are showperson, if you lie good enough - people believe you. And when people believe you - you are no more lying. That makes Norman live in fucked up cycle of believing and disbelieving. In moments of show she is often straight up going through psychosis with hallucinations and delusions worse than his own audience has. "God" speaks to them and says that buddy is worlds savior, child that will lead others and make world greater place. And then show ends, and she looks into a wall reminding himself about reality. It isn't perfect experience for anyone's mental health, and it, as expected, exhausts Norman. But they perceives it as part of work that you just need to learn to accept.
He acknowledges that his work is morally questionable, but he doesn't consider themself evil person. Norman thinks that hers followers life getting better under his teachings, he's trying to be a good therapist and leader, so what's wrong with it being not fully build on truth?
Norman is blind on his "face-eyes", only eye that works is third one on her forehead.
Teodoro, more often known as Teddy, is also basically cult leader. But unlike Norman Elsegood she is, one, creates religion on conspiracy theories, and two, believes in all this with his whole heart.
Issue between Teddy and viewer opinions is not that he doesn't believe in evil controlling government and Elluminati, but that Teddy's view on how it works and how to fix it extremely bipolar from auditory that believe in this all. What i'm trying to say,,,
TEDDY IS WOKE! TEDDY IS WOKE CONSPIRACY BELIEVER!
Teddy believes in evil government made by mole people AND she believes that they trying to brainwash you into hating gay people! They believe that minorities is being painted in negative light by people of power to be used as "outside enemies", so we ignore real issues like them planning to explode sun cus mole people hate sun! Cannonicaly, Teddy supports immigrants, LGBTQ+, furry (even moles if they not doing evil government things), people of any race and nationality and any other creature of any other galaxy that being discriminated by evil government! Tommy is insane, but she is insane with standards.
Issue is people who believe in conspiracy theories and enjoy eating insane slop without proof, not always, but often go in a little different direction from Teddy's believes. Woke people are known to be more (real) science leaning, so they don't enjoy watching and believing stuff that lacks proof. So auditory opinion affects Teddy into making theories and saying stuff that doesn't fit his real beliefs, and she HATES it. She finds her work very frustrating, because imagine with full heart run towards microphone to yap how gay people need to be protected from mole government, stumble on your thought and accidentally copy paste 30 minutes of hate speech. Annoying, isn't it???
In moments when Teddy is not affected by his fans opinion, she is very open-minded person to which you can tell anything, and he will stay supportive (unless you say that you are mole who works in government...) She may be a little too much at times, loud and talkative, but otherwise cool dude who wishes to fight to protect world from evil.
Olly Stars
Showperson of interview
Olly performs late-night talk show. She, at the same time, has worst performing abilities known to man. Not because they have no charisma, but because they have fear of public performance. Yes, apparently showpeople, who exist under spotlights, can have such problems...
He has fear of being seen as boring and uncool and unfunny and old, so they try best they can to not be like that, which makes people perceive them as annoying, disrespectful incel. Which affects her behavior into doing annoying, disrespectful, incel-ish stuff. Which makes him even more paranoid about his image and so on and so on... You should already get how it works.
On show Olly is often mean, in some ways, even misogynistic and homophobic loser. But canonicaly that is not exactly so... Important part. No matter that his agression in show is highly overgrown, his canonical form still does has some issues with accepting others. She won't bully you if he finds you cringe, but won't be an ally neither. His issues with accepting himself, affect way he accepts others. Yeah, in one-on-one interactions, when he is less affected by stress and need to perform for others, he is much more pleasant person to be around, but far from perfect.
In his free time, Olly is a bit of a geek. He enjoys nishe hobbies and collecting stuff such as figurines and posters. But she doesn't often share this part of their life with other people in fear of being shamed.
Ammy is very unique showperson. She leads literally ALL shows that aren't taken by others. His show is what you see on TV when you turn it on at 4 am. A fricking filler. This may sound like an overwhelming amount of job, and not best position, but in reality he may be one of luckiest freaks in this... television circus. Wait no-
Thing is, on our workplace, there is no such thing as "too much job" (capitalist breathing against your ear). I want to remind you that all showpeople live in no-space with no-time, they have no deadlines! So Ammy can be very patient with his work, it won't go anywhere. Her position gives creative freedom, what you will see on your screen depends only on his mood at the moment. She is quite thankful for it and no matter that they isn't equally with L-K "wanna try everything" kind of person, he is still using this opportunity to get out of comfort zone and explore. For this reason he also has a lot of unexpected little skills, starting from something normal like cooking or car fixing, ending with knowledge how to break in your bank account.
Another pleasant part of his position, people not often focus on him. Blending with a wall, being professionally boring is something they purposely do. Filler type of content, mixed with her own skill to be okay-est show host makes her unrememberable in eyes of audience, and when you don't care about someone, don't feel emotionally invested, why would you make headcanons about them? Why bother to look deeper? Ammy is least affected by audience opinion showperson. Not because he doesn't care, but because others don't. Sometimes she may experience push of being seen as "cold boring bitch", but even then it mostly plays on his hand... Being "distant" is lesser evil, than "interactiveness" since it usually may lead to, once again, avalanche effect.
Outside of work, they are quite pleasant and calming to be around. More of a listener than talker. They are on highly friendly terms with Tommy, Life-Kaif and Teodoro. Being boring is a position they enjoy since he doesn't really look to prove anything to anyone, looking at beauty around rather than being perceived is satisfying to her.
Sam Zore
Censore
Sam Zore is NOT a showperson. He is not following rules they do, she is not changing behavior based on your beliefs, no matter of situation and viewers opinions, it stays stable. (Yeah, they use any pronouns as well, usually refers to himself as a he/they, but won't pay attention if you call her "gurl"). Being stable and unaffected by others is an important part of his personality and literally their job.
His position is called "Censore", but in practice "banning porn and violence" is least of what he does. Main focus of hers is to keep canon of showpeople in place. He is VIP viewer, which means that if he is perceiving showperson his opinion will be above anyone else. No matter how many others will disagree with him, she is stays above any other viewers. He takes this power with huge responsibility. He perfectly knows canon of people under her care and doesn't create any kind of "headcanons", works a lot on keeping his opinions to themself. For this reason, if Sam is in a room with showpeople, they always behave according with who they actually are (unless there is "empty" part of canon, as in May_Day case when Sam can't make up something that doesn't exist), most of showpeople describe being around him as "comforting and relaxing", for oblivious reason of finally being able to not worry about others opinion.
Besides that, they are mechanic of studio. Sam takes care of maintaining station they live in, and also sometimes takes care of May_Day body. No matter him being responsible for proper work of this place, he admittedly barely knows how it works. "It's a *pip* maze of wires and metal scrap that is being held on duct tape and prays of my!" (Sam can not say swear words and some "violent words", it is not under their control, and he finds it's annoying, especially considering that her speech often includes them. If she does say one, it gets censored by loud pip sound.)
Outside of work matters, he is rough in places guy who may care too much about rules, but after all, stays kind. He is a parent figure who will yell at you for being an idiot, but when you say sorry will go and solve all bullshit you have done. Because he cares. She views her position as more important as others do, and feels like all his struggles deserve bigger credits, but doesn't expect to actually get one. Like an overworking doctor or a teacher who still doesn't quit because "who else if not me?" He is not a hobby type, mostly because he has no energy to actually start any. Most of his free time he just wants to watch some dumb melodrama and lay down on couch. But if anyone (Life-Kaif) tags him along in new activity, he may perform unexpectedly well. She is fast learner and perfectionist, so if he starts doing anything he will push until finds it's perfect. He may not be friends, but still on respectful terms with most of showpeople. But their social interactions are mostly work related. On other hand, her siblings Life-Kaif and Tommy are very close with him and often spend time together. He finds Carl an annoying troublemaking dumbass cat (who he is) and thinks that Tommy could have got himself better man. "But whatever makes you happy, I guess..."
Eddie is advertisement manager, which suggests that it's main life goal is to be an annoying fuck who shows up and ruins everyone's party by explaining why you NEED to buy it's crap. It doesn't even know WHY exactly he does so, not it, not any other person in studio needs money. Concept of finances is basically non-existent around MindTV workers, since all of them can just create "totally real money" out of air in rare occasions when they actually need to pay for anything. If you ask Eddie why it needs this money and where they are going after, or even from who it gets items it is so violently trying to sell you... it will not understand single word you say. "Because it's fun!" i guess?
Eddie is not a show person, so it doesn't have to change under others opinions. BUT- it kinda still does??? It can and will change his behavior, look, voice, opinions and much more in attempts to sell you a spoon, by it's own will. Eddie uses it/they pronouns, but doesn't care if others address it differently. In some cases, it will start to address to itself as a man or a woman if it believes specific gender will sell it's product better. It's constantly changing appearance is usually still stays annoyingly eyehurting and looking at it for too long may cause headache. Also, it is considered dangerous for epileptic people.
It has abnormal abilities to break and corrupt stuff around it. Not always, but usually electronics... Touching computers causes them to get trojans and your phone instantly gets in spam lists of every scam company of your area. For those reasons, it is forbidden to interact with May_Day and enter rooms with important equipment. Its abilities have also been noticed to corrupt books by changing all text on newspaper ads section. It doesn't control it's abilities and doesn't do so on purpose, but also doesn't seem to understand why everyone so unhappy with these "positive" changes.
Generally, Eddie is known to be unaware why people around it so annoyed with his presence. Not like it really cares about having friends or lovers (unless it pays), but it seem to be deeply confused why walking into a room makes everyone nervously leave. It does not feel sad about it. Eddie is fully happy on it's own, as long as it can keep working. Closest person to be considered "friend" with Eddie is Sam. Tho he would NEVER say so himself.
